Jessica and Evan were married on October 1 with a ceremony and reception at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
This was another family legacy wedding for us. We had photographed Evan’s sister’s wedding and our fingers were crossed about this couple since then! I remember his mom and sister were really cheering for Jessica after Maury’s wedding. Even then, they told me they really hoped she was the one for Evan!
Jessica and Evan’s wedding was all about family. Everyone was a part of the day! We had sisters as matrons of honor, a brother-in-law as officiant, and adorable nephews as ring bearers! It’s so wonderful to see families that embrace one another as these did.
Events at the Atlanta Botanical gardens are always unique because the exhibits are always changing. For Jessica and Evan’s wedding, “Chihuly in the Garden” was on display and was absolutely stunning. This breathtaking exhibit, featuring more than 20 installations composed of hundreds of pieces of colorful glass, sprawled out over the 30-acre green space beside Piedmont Park. One of the most spectacular pieces was Saffron Tower, a 30-foot neon glass sculpture near the garden’s water mirror. When lit, the reflection hit every step of the waterfall. This unique installation made for such a GORGEOUS backdrop for the ceremony and for pictures throughout their wedding.
Maury and Evan’s mom, Jennifer stole our hearts at the first wedding. Really- both Mom AND Dad did! The love these two have for their kids is immense – they are SO sweet! From them tearing up during the speeches to how they look at their kids, the relationship they have with both their children has been so cool to witness and document. At one point, there was a huge group of Evan’s guy friends that practically grew up at Evans house out there dancing with Jennifer on the dance floor! Jessica’s family was really fun to get to know as well. They also seemed to be members of the fun-loving department. I think the older sisters had fun teaming up for the night to give great speeches about their younger siblings!
Jessica and Evan are a very laid back couple. They just wanted a relaxed, fun and family focused event. They were very fond of our UNOBTRUSIVE approach. Since they weren’t fond of being in the spotlight, our photographer Jes told them, “don’t worry about us – in fact we give you permission to totally forget we are here!” This hands-off approach to photographing the day let them relax. Jes and Jason were able to capture more of who they really are. The moments happened naturally instead of being forced. There are several pictures where Jessica and Evan are laughing together that I love! They have such a natural comfort with one another. All through the day they were able to be focused on what is important to them: family, love, laughter, and being together.
Jessica and Evan, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your day! It was a joy to be a part of it!
