Melissa and Scott were married on October 22 with a spectacular ceremony and reception at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. Since we have been talking about referrals being the coolest thing since sliced bread, this story could not have been more timely. You see, Melissa and Scott met WHILE we were photographing one of our couples, Lindsay and Ben’s wedding!
So, we went right to the source and asked Lindsay and Ben to “Guest Blog” about Melissa and Scott meeting at their wedding.
“We were the first ones of our friends to get married – college sweethearts, eighteen months after graduation. With us being so young, naturally, a lot of our friends still hadn’t found that special someone. While we had our ideas and predictions about who from our wedding party might end the night together, never in a million years did either of us expect Melissa and Scott would have just as important of a night as we did.
Our wedding was picture perfect (Literally. Thanks to Adam & Jenn), but it didn’t take long for these two party animals to steal the show. Add a few glasses of champagne, some killer dance moves, and the microphones from our wedding band: you could tell their chemistry was real. The garter toss sealed the deal – right from Scott’s hands to around Melissa’s neck.
An immediate, albeit playful ‘Facebook relationship’ quickly ensued as Melissa and Scott turned a drunken wedding masterpiece into one of the greatest wedding gifts we could imagine: our two best friends are dance partners for life. We love our own love story, but Melissa and Scott’s will always be our favorite.
Obviously, we’re thrilled they found each other – but we’re even more thrilled there’s incredible documentation from our amazing wedding photographers. We love looking back through the pictures of both of our weddings; reliving the night we said “I do” and they said “I don’t remember,” and then the night they’ll never forget.”
Now… about Melissa and Scott’s GORGEOUS wedding!
Family played a huge role in this wedding, and Melissa’s parents were wonderful, adorable and so, so, so very sweet. Melissa decided to do a father-daughter first look. She cut a heart from her dad’s scrubs and stitched it into the inside of her dress as her something blue. That tiny detail ratcheted up what is already a beautiful, touching moment. Adam is known for his emotional photography: catching that look or that feeling and preserving it forever. It comes from a very real place, and in the midst of these moments, he is feeling it too! During the father-daughter first look, Melissa’s mom caught Adam weeping behind the camera as they embraced. Adam admitted he was defenseless as these touching, sentimental moments make him imagine what it will be like one day when his own little girl is getting married.
Another theme throughout the day was the fun Melissa and Scott had. The joy on their faces from start to finish is radiant! Melissa confessed, “We seriously cannot overstate how much fun we had at the wedding. It was, without a doubt, the best night/weekend EVER. We both felt like we were present and soaking in every second with all our friends and family. If we had to give advice that would definitely be it: relax and soak it all in.”
We love a good story and we love that we were able to be a part of this from the very moment it began! It means the world to us that Lindsay and Ben shared us not only with Melissa and Scott but with a few other couples that you might spot in the pictures below. It has been so much fun to get to know this wonderful group of friends and be a part of their timeless celebrations!
