Alexandra and Mitchell were married on April 8th with a ceremony at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and reception at the Cherokee Town Club in Atlanta GA. Melissa Bugg and Jason Getz beautifully documented the stunning occasion!
This wedding was especially unique, as it was continuing a legacy: Mitchell’s parents got married in the same church and had their reception at the same country club. Having their special day echo his parents’ wedding was a truly beautiful gesture. To honor the memories of the past, the bride and groom recreated several images to replicate his parent’s wedding images. These timeless, classic poses mirroring their family’s treasured memories were really special to capture.
After Alexandra was ready, Melissa created formal portraits of the bride and bridesmaids outside the beautiful church. Alexandra’s dress was STUNNING and photographed beautifully, it was only outshone by the mega watt smile on her face all day! While the bride and groom opted to see each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle, there was a sweet moment before the ceremony. She wanted to hold hands with Mitchell through a door opening without seeing one another. Tears welled in Alexandra’s eyes as her hand intertwined with Mitchell’s. There were so many emotions between the two of them shared in that single moment and their building excitement was tangible. It was a sentimental way to start to their ceremony.
Peachtree Presbyterian is a stunning church with so many beautiful places for portraits. I was so struck by the romantic way that the bride and groom recreated portraits in the same places as Mitchell’s parents. The light streamed in through the windows creating an amazing backdrop to realize their vision. After the ceremony, we adjourned to the Cherokee Town Club for an elegant reception. It was important to Alexandra that they had a fun, exciting and upbeat time. It was clear from their smiles that the bride and groom succeeded in their task. Everyone had so much fun and there was a joyous energy that carried well into the evening.
It was such an honor to document this wedding because of how they honored the groom’s parents’ history and forged a family legacy by saying “I do” in the same church and celebrating at the same country club. It is our sincerest hope that these pictures will create a tradition that can carry on for generations to come!
