One of the most interesting parts of being a wedding photographer is meeting so many different kinds of people. Not only do we get to witness traditions from all over the world right here in Atlanta, but the people saying the vows and their eclectic group of friends and family always have ties to cool stories and rich histories.
Like Ashley and Brian’s wedding… Their big day took place at the beautiful and historic Agnes Scott College in Decatur. An all-women’s college founded in 1889, its 100+ year-old grounds provide an extraordinary backdrop for weddings. And this couple surely shows that off.
But going back to those cool ties, there was a little something extra special in the fact that the wedding took place on campus–Ashley’s mom, Mary Bullock was a game changing former president of the college. When she was inducted in 1995, her goal was to build the number of students to 1,000 – including a campaign that would kickstart a rebuilding and preservation of the college’s historic buildings and amping up its technology. She accomplished all of the above. Bottom line here? She’s famous. And, it’s in large thanks to her that we have this gorgeous canvas to shoot against!
So naturally, Ashley and Brian’s nuptials lived up to this reputation – plus, it was a truly sweet ceremony surrounded by friends and family who had a downright good time. Heck, some of the guests danced so hard they got down to their bare feet! We love seeing our bride and groom let loose and soak up the sentiment of the entire celebration – and happy to share some of our favorites with you guys!
