Zach and Mary Catherine were married on September 17 with a ceremony and reception at the Burge Plantation in Mansfield, Georgia.
We are so excited to showcase Zach and Mary Catherine’s Burge Plantation wedding as part of our family wedding series. Being a part of a second wedding celebration for a family allows us to document for their next generations, and capture joy over the years. We photographed sister Christie’s wedding to Hank several years ago and were thrilled when her mother, Cathy, called to let us know that Mary Catherine was getting married and they wanted us to be involved! It was a true joy for us to be able to join the family for another special day.
Adam was so excited to do a second wedding with this awesome family – they treated HIM like he was a valued family member. Already having a relationship with them made each and every moment he caught that much more meaningful.
Burge Plantation is a beautiful country venue offering the romance of both a charming rustic farm setting as well as the traditional opulence of a southern plantation! The pictures of their ceremony underneath the grand oak trees are just SO stunning. With over 1000 acres of property, the Burge has amazing opportunities for beautiful pictures.
Mary Catherine chose Burge after growing up visiting the property with her family and learning to shoot a gun with her dad. The Groomes hosted a family shoot to welcome everyone and kick off the weekend on Friday afternoon!
Legacy and family history played a huge role in this wedding AND in the families shared history! Though the couple met when set up by mutual friends their lives were intertwined in more ways than they could ever imagine! “We have an amazing family history that we learned about after we began dating. Our grandmothers met in North Carolina at a youth camp at age 13. They, along with their husbands (our grandfathers) became friends at Duke University at 18 years. At our engagement party this fall they were reunited for the first time since 1943. It keeps going… My mom and his aunt were roommates at Georgia. My dad and his dad were neighbors growing up and therefore the other set of grandparents knew each other. His younger cousin went on a mission trip to Africa with me. All these family connections we had were discovered shortly after we began dating.”
We loved the way all family and friends celebrated at the event! The reception took place in and around the elegant Burge Conservatory and its covered terrace. Everyone was on the dance floor soaking up every second of the fun! Watching dad boogie down with Mary Catherine and mom dance with both her sons-in-law was a blast. This family knows joy and it was so fun to witness this joy filled celebration. The dancing continued into the night and the sparkler exit was the perfect way to end the day.
Thank you again to Zach and Mary Catherine. It was an honor to capture your wedding!
